FAQ: Being a EMA speaker
As the largest membership organization for Muslim urban professionals, EMA has high expectations of its speakers. The EMA leadership team will work closely with invited speakers in advance of the event to help shape the speaker’s presentation and tailor content to EMA’ membership.
How do I nominate a speaker?
Use the EMA speaker nomination form, and share as much information as possible. Data you share will be shared with EMA’ leadership team.
Can I suggest someone I don’t know personally?
As long as you can provide that person’s contact information, please suggest! Don’t forget to let us know how you heard about this person, and why you think they’d be a good speaker for The EMA.
Can I suggest someone I work for, work with, or one of my clients?

Can I suggest myself as a speaker?
Yes
Can I speak for EMA by becoming a sponsor?
No– while sponsoring EMA has many benefits, a guaranteed speaking slot is not among them. Please read more about EMA’ partnership opportunities.
Will multiple nominations or submissions increase my chances of being selected as a speaker?
No– one nomination or submission will suffice.
Is there a deadline for nominating a speaker?
Not at all. We accept nominations on a rolling basis. That said, it’s best to get your nominations in as early as possible to account for the time it will take for EMA’ to research potential speakers and plan our roster of speakers for the coming year.
My usual talk is 50 minutes, can EMA accommodate that?
The speaking time we allot for speakers varies on the platform – via webinar, a city event, or an invitation to EMA’ Annual Leadership Conference. We ask that speakers tailor their talk to the time given, as EMA ’ strictly enforces these time frames. We can discuss more upon a formal invitation to speak.
How much do you pay speakers?
EMA does not pay its speakers– but we do often cover the cost of travel and hotel accommodation when/if applicable. This is decided on a case-by-case basis and we can discuss further upon a formal invitation.

The Leadership team actively explores new partnerships with fellow community organizations and welcomes requests for event and program partnerships that are aligned with EMA’ mission, values, and codes of conduct, and clearly benefit EMA’ membership. Partnership requests that come from a EMA member are more likely to be considered.

Event/Program Co-Sponsors
EMA welcomes invitations to co-plan or co-sponsor an event or program in which both/all organizations contribute equal resources to ensure the event/program’s success.
Marketing/Promotional Partner
Promotional partnership requests must come from a member who is actively involved in organizing the event/program which is being promoted. This partnership could involve cross-promotion, cross-publication of logos on upcoming event content, or discounted entry fees for EMA members in exchange for having EMA share promotional partnership content with its members.
